Simon Jordan has (just for a change…) been talking about the situation at Newcastle United.

This time it is about where the club’s owners should turn to next, having thankfully turfed Steve Bruce out belatedly.

Two weeks on from taking the keys to St James Park, the new NUFC owners desperately need to appoint a manager who can help them start to repair the mess left by Mike Ashley and Steve Bruce.

When you start mentioning Talksport and Simon Jordan, you know this is not going to end well.

So at a time when the club need the best quality manager possible, somebody who will help unite the club and get everybody pulling together at Newcastle UNITED, who does Simon Jordan suggest is ideal?

Yes, that’s right, Sam Allardyce.

The same Sam Allardyce who only on Monday (on Talksport!), was naming who was to blame for Newcastle having no wins in nine games and positioned second bottom of the Premier League. Yes, Fat Sam saying that Newcastle were in massive relegation trouble, had lost to Spurs and looked so terrible, because of the Newcastle fans.

Allardyce claiming that because, according to him, Newcastle fans had forced Steve Bruce to play attacking football match after match and were the main factor in the shocking state of the team / club. Funnily enough, this all attack NUFC the fans had demanded, supposedly, only had 36% possession against Spurs and no Newcastle player had a shot on target all game after Wilson scored in the second minute.

So of course, a ten month record of seven wins in thirty eight games is also the fault of the NUFC fans, not Steve Bruce.

Simon Jordan goes down the tired old line of good old English manager Sam Allardyce can get Newcastle United out of trouble, unlike these supposedly clueless foreigners. It all sounds very reminiscent of when loads in the media reckoned Champions League (and double La Liga and double Europa League winner) Rafa Benitez wasn’t suited to get Newcastle out of the Championship – because he hadn’t managed in there before and NUFC needed a good old English manager used to second tier football…

It is a total myth that Sam Allardyce is somehow some magic shield against relegation, only five months ago he relegated West Brom who finished a country mile off safety.

Plus, whilst Newcastle are looking for the right man to unite everybody, who could be more divisive than Sam Allardyce?

Simon Jordan speaking on Talksport about the Newcastle United managerial vacancy – 21 October 2021:

“There’s no good getting a Hollywood signing [for Newcastle United manager] right now.

“You need someone who is going to get in among the muck and bullets and get down and dirty to do what it takes to drag them out.

“Who that is going to be and to incentivise them it is going to be a short-term job with an option at the end of it that says ‘if you get 50 points or 47 points you have an option to stay, but if we don’t take that option up we have to pay you some more money’.

“It does look like somebody like Sam Allardyce or that ilk.

“Which might bring in a sharp intake of breath…but you need someone to get you away from this conundrum.

“Graeme Jones is not the answer because he’s not a manager he’s a coach.”
