Simon Ferry Makes Surprise Celtic Training Comment & Thinks Lennon Should Go His Own Way | OneFootball

Former Celtic reserve, Swindon Town and Portsmouth player, Simon Ferry, has given a surprising insight to the training regime at Lennoxtown.

Ferry, who now plays for Peterhead and hosts the Open Goal podcast, came through the Celtic system when Neil Lennon was a player at the club.

A boyhood Celtic fan, Ferry spoke to Go Radio about the recent string of disappointing results and urges Neil Lennon to do things his own way:

“He went back to his old ways but it seems to me again it’s back to the Brendan Rodgers style. I know they still do Brendan Rodgers training, which worries me. If you’re the manager you can’t be doing someone else’s thing you need to do what you want to do.

“If he’s going to go out, he needs to do it in his own way. Whether he’s doing that or not with the people that are behind him I don’t know.”

Lennon was left disappointed after dropping more points at Easter Road on Saturday and singled out Scott Brown for strong criticism. However, Ferry has called upon Lennon to rediscover his old motivational self or he expects some serious questions to be asked of him in the boardroom.

Ferry added: “The one worry I would have with Neil Lennon was his interview after the game where he said players are lacking in motivation. Having known Neil Lennon that’s the kind of manager he is. He is a man-manager, he is a motivator, if he’s struggling to do that then questions will be asked by the board, because he will tell you himself he’s not a manager who goes on the training ground and coaches.

“He’s a guy who can get players up, speak to anyone, I’ve played under him, he’s a guy who can get you up for games. And if he is struggling to do that then the board will be asking questions.”
