Silence From Ibrox: Rangers Urgently Need To Get A Move On

Article image:Silence From Ibrox: Rangers Urgently Need To Get A Move On

We’re quite sure the GiveItTime and GiveThemAChanceFFS crew will be out in force on this article, but nevertheless, the lack of signatures at this point in June, and indeed lack of overall movement, is maybe a little bit of a concern.

Next month are Rangers Champions League qualifiers, that’s where it begins, in earnest, for us. But at this point, there is no movement in or out. There is speculation, we do get our information, we have our sources, but nothing has been delivered yet. This is a bit of an issue. Rangers really quickly need to get on with this change, this Russell Martin revolution. Well, we can hope.

Most readers will know how we feel about Russell Martin, but we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt in terms of the argument for this article. He will need quality in there. He will need new bodies, new blood, new talent. The fact that, for example, Robin Propper has not secured his exit to former Club Twente is indeed an example of the distinct lack of movement. Yes, we get the information that this is happening, that that is happening, but unfortunately, nothing actually seems to have manifested itself yet.

Now, as we say, we’re sure that the optimists, the happy clappers loyal, will nevertheless justify and defend everything that happens. They always do. However, it is abundantly clear that nothing has happened. Not a single thing of any nature. Maybe a few kids going out, but nothing coming in and no seniors being cut loose. Apart from, of course, the early trio of Lawrence Balogun and Hagi.

At this point, Kevin Thelwell, the new Technical Director, or whatever he is, and Martin, don’t seem to have achieved too much. Nobody’s come in, nobody’s gone out, apart from aforementioned trio, and with competitive football kicking in next month, as we’ve said before, the overhaul needs to start.

As we also mentioned, we’re sure that the Give Them a Chance and Give Them Time crowd will be out in force telling us to do exactly that. But you need to get this stuff in place. We’ve seen from many pre-seasons how poor the team ended up being because, well, frankly, panic signings took place late in that window. Now, we’re in a situation where nothing has happened once again for yet another summer window in a row. And if we go into the next month with essentially the same state of squad, we’re not going to be in any better position whatsoever than what we were last season altogether.

Get a move on!
