Extending the contract of Silas Katompa Mvumpa beyond 2024 remains a top priority for Stuttgart but according to Sport Bild, the 24-year-old has considerable interest from the Premier League.
Stuttgart CEO Alexander Wehrle, new sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth, newly appointed head coach Bruno Labbadia, and the agent of Silas, Mehmet Eser, met on Tuesday to discuss the player’s future.
Wohlgemuth stated that extending the contract of Silas was a “top priority” for the Bundesliga club and that they’re working towards that, but the DR Congo forward is in great demand – which is one reason why VfB wanted to extend Silas’ deal under previous sporting director, Sven Mislintat.
Silas has scored three and created two in 14 Bundesliga games for Stuttgart this season but with just three wins in 15 games, VfB find themselves down in 16th.
An €8m signing from Paris FC in 2019, Silas has scored 25 and created 15 in 83 games across all competitions but has struggled with injuries, missing 22 games in the 2020/21 season and 14 games last season.
