The temporary Aston Villa acquisition of Marco Asensio has been well received among supporters. On loan from PSG, the Spaniard has impressed. There, furthermore, wouldn't be too many voices opposed to him joining the Midlands side as part of a permanent signing.
Without a question, the 29-year-old is a highly skilled playmaker who often proves to be the difference in the final third. Not just for Villa, but any team needs someone that can provide that final element of skill and creativity to break down defenses and create goal-scoring chances.
As the summer transfer window comes closer and closer, the option of keeping him with Unai Emery becomes an increased point of conversation among fans. Between the number of important decisions that Monchi will be forced to make, it seems that securing Asensio would take priority.
A lot does and can happen in the backdoor of the business side of the sport, however. Between agents and clubs trying to exert leverage, truly anything can happen. For the most part, though, when a move seemingly benefits everyone, it would appear that there wouldn't be too much resistance offered. This, however, remains to be seen.
Manager Unai Emery appears to not be focused on the contract status of the Spain international at the moment whatsoever. As reported by Birmingham Live, the boss disclosed his current thoughts on the issue:
We still have two months left to play for a lot of things. Now is not the time, because two years ago I was calling him to bring him here as well. It means he was always in my mind.
