Everyone has now been paid in full at Reading following an issue that meant some were only paid part of their wage and others didn’t receieve anything in November, according to Reading Chronicle reporter James Earnshaw.

A report from the Independent earlier this week revealed that the Royals’ senior squad and staff had only received 80% of their wages, something that may have put some supporters on high alert considering how close they came to the brink following the departure of Anton Zingarevich in 2014.

And the same piece also claimed that the under-21s hadn’t received anything, though the club were confident that this issue was going to be resolved by the end of this week.

This delay in payment was reportedly due to an “unforeseen and temporary delay to the club receiving its regular funding”, something that may have helped to put the Royals’ supporters’ minds at rest with owner Dai Yongge seemingly committed to the cause at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

And journalist Earnshaw now believes everyone at the club has now been paid in full, which will come as a relief following an uncertain couple of days.

The Berkshire outfit are back in action next Saturday when they host Coventry City, who will be desperate to continue their impressive run of form.

The Verdict:

For the staff members’ sake, you just hope this is the last time an issue like this happens because this delay probably wasn’t ideal for them and they are entitled to feel upset about this saga.

However, the fact this seems to be sorted is a big relief and the Royals will be keen for this issue not to happen again as they look to prove to the EFL that they can be trusted to spend in the transfer market again from next season.

This wages story probably isn’t a stick the club’s supporters can use to beat the club with though – because there are several other off-field issues this year that have been more damaging for the club.

Liam Moore being stripped of the captaincy wasn’t an ideal start to the year and you just felt the club was becoming more and more out of touch with its supporters who were desperate for the Berkshire outfit to get their house in order off the pitch.

Things seemed to have improved a bit with Mark Bowen coming back in – but there’s still a long way to go for the club in their quest to bring supporters back to the SCL Stadium.
