Watford are interested in signing free agent Carlos Sanchez, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
The 35-year-old has been without a club since leaving West Ham United at the end of last season, making 18 appearances during his time with the Hammers.
The Colombian midfielder is now available to sign on a free transfer, though, with Watford reportedly taking an interest in his services.
Here, we discuss this potential addition at Vicarage Road…

I can’t say I’m hugely convinced by this one.
Watford could do with a boost as they look to sneak into the top two in the latter stages of the season but is adding a new holding midfielder really what they need?
They’ve got so much quality in that area already, in the likes of Chalobah, Cleverley, Hughes, and Gosling, you’d question whether it’s a move they need to make.
On a short-term deal it could make sense as they look to bounce back up to the Premier League at the first time of asking but anything longer than that would be a risk.
They’ve already got a big and expensive squad, I’m not sure adding Sanchez is the right move long-term.

He’s getting on a bit now at the age of 35 and after his last stint in English football, I think Watford should steer clear.
I know he would only be brought in to add depth to the current squad but they can do a lot better than Sanchez.
He was pretty hopeless at Villa and West Ham and for that reason I can’t see why he would make much of an impact at Vicarage Road.
The player is a free agent for a reason – this shouldn’t even be on the table from my point of view.

I’m not entirely sure why this deal is needed.
Watford are looking much stronger at present and look like a fairly complete team on current form.
Carlos Sanchez won’t really offer much to the team.
By the time he gets up to full fitness the season will be over and so for me this is perhaps a deal that could wait until the summer when they know what division they’ll be playing in next term.
