World Cup Group E is going down to the wire.

Japan scored two goals in three minutes at the start of the second half against Spain to turn the group on it’s head and leave Germany’s place at the tournament on the rocks.

But should the goal have stood?

Kaoru Mitoma stretched to reach the ball and poke it back into the path of Ao Tanaka to tap in to put Japan in front, and after a long VAR check the goal was adjudged not to have gone out of play.

But did VAR and the referee make the right decision?
