Wrexham previously eyed up a move for the former Manchester United midfielder
Wrexham AFC made a blockbuster approach to sign Christian Eriksen earlier in the window.
Phil Parkinson has already added Liberato Cacace, George Thomason, Ryan Hardie, Danny Ward, Josh Windass and Lewis O’Brien to his ranks this summer.
The Red Dragons aimed to build on that with a swoop for one of Europe’s standout midfielders over the past decade.
Wrexham have made their ambition clear to see in the past few years, rising up the English Football League with promotion to the top-flight their ultimate aim.
Now, it has been revealed that the Welsh side were eyeing up a blockbuster transfer for Eriksen.
According to the Daily Mail, the Red Dragons targeted a move for the 33-year-old following the expiration of his contract at Manchester United this summer.
Eriksen is believed to have been impressed with the proposal and recognises Wrexham’s stratospheric rise but wants to extend his top-flight career for as long as possible.
The Denmark international has received approaches from Saudi Arabia, the United States, Turkey and Brazil, but his agent has stated that Eriksen wants to continue playing in Western Europe.
After almost seven years with Tottenham Hotspur, the playmaker joined Italian giants Inter Milan, where he would win the Serie A title.
A brief but successful spell with Brentford in 2022 caught the attention of Manchester United, where Eriksen would spend the next three seasons.
FA and Carabao Cup honours would await the Dane, who is now in search of his next challenge.
That won’t be in Wales however, despite Wrexham offering him the opportunity.
Adding Eriksen to their squad would’ve been a real statement of intent from Wrexham ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, but it ultimately wasn’t to be.
The Dane’s technical quality is unmatched among the second-tier, and forwards such as Hardie/Windass would’ve flourished if served by the 33-year-old.
Despite the initial disappointment of not securing Eriksen’s services, there is still much to be excited about at the Racecourse Ground ahead of next season.
Parkinson and Co. have made some crucial additions that possess guaranteed second-tier quality, with operators such as Hardie, Windass and O’Brien certain to raise the level in the Red Dragons’ squad.
Fellow promoted outfit Birmingham City may have stolen a portion of Wrexham’s limelight due to their own outrageous spending, but the Welsh side have still recruited cleverly and will likely do so until the end of the window.
Therefore, although Eriksen would’ve been a Hollywood signing fitting of the club’s current status, Wrexham won’t let his rejection slow their momentum.
