An altogether surprise pair combined to net a last-gasp winner for Real Madrid on Wednesday, in the process delaying arch rivals Barcelona’s title celebrations.

Real Madrid marked their return to action a short time ago, welcoming RCD Mallorca to Spain’s capital for a La Liga clash.

Carlo Ancelotti’s injury-hit squad headed into the matchup in the knowledge that only a victory would suffice, in preventing Barcelona from being mathematically crowned Spanish champions for the season.

And when all was said and done, this is precisely what Los Blancos secured.

Just as proceedings looked set to peter out into a 1-1 draw after Martin Valjent’s opener was cancelled out by Kylian Mbappé, a shock hero emerged for the evening’s hosts…

A full five minutes into injury time, a looping delivery towards the Mallorca penalty area was nodded on by the forgotten Jesús Vallejo.

And from here, central defensive partner Jacobo Ramón managed to get a decisive touch on the ball, finding the net to spark widespread celebrations across the Santiago Bernabéu.
