Shock Move? Barcelona Eye Bold Transfer Swoop for Real Madrid's Player
In what could become the most unexpected twist of the summer transfer window, FC Barcelona've expressed interest in signing Rodrygo Goes, the Brazilian winger currently on the books at Real Madrid according to leading Brazilian outlet UOL.
Reports claim Barca've already made contact with the player’s entourage to signal their interest. However they’ve set firm condition: they'll only pursue deal if Rodrygo himself decides to leave Real Madrid voluntarily.
The 24 year old endured frustrating 2024 /25 campaign with Los Blancos featuring in just 3 matches at the FIFA Club World cup where Madrid reached the semifinals. In total he logged just 95 minute in the tournament failing to complete full match.
Rodrygo’s struggles date back to the start of last season continuing even after the departure of Carlo Ancelotti and the arrival of Xabi Alonso in Jun. Despite making 30 la liga appearances, the forward managed only 6 goal & 5 assist with no silverware won during the campaign.
Now training with Real Madrid Castilla (the reserve side), Rodrygo's reportedly unhappy with his limited role and his desire to operate on the left wing, position where he’s rarely been deployed.
Rodrygo joined Real Madrid in 2019 from Santos at age 18 initially playing with Castilla before breaking into the senior team later that season. His current contract runs until 30 Jun 2028 with market value estimated at 93 million euro.
However his defensive performance issues & frequent positional shifts have contributed to steady decline in status. He ended the season injured & largely sidelined from key fixtures.
