Shkodran Mustafi’s wage demands are stopping him from finding a new club according to reports across Europe.

Shkodran Mustafi is still without a club after his short, but disastrous spell with Schalke.

Released by Arsenal in January, Mustafi seemed to have found a new home with Genoa after wage demands meant a deal with Levante was not possible.

At that point, it was reported that Mustafi was asking for a salary in the region of €1.4m-per-year with a bonus included for any goals he might score. The German defender scored nine goals with Arsenal and even managed to score for Schalke.

Now, however, a report from Italy claims that Mustafi wants a three-year deal worth €1.9m-a-year before he will sign with anyone.

This report comes after Mustafi’s representatives met with Genoa, where they made ‘requests decidedly out of range’ for the Italian club.

That being said, although it is noted that Genoa have no intention of paying this amount to Mustafi, who would not require a transfer fee but probably wants a decent-sized signing-on bonus, they will make him an offer nonetheless.
