After calling time on his Leicester City career, Shinji Okazaki revealed how proud he was to have helped the club make a mark in his homeland.

The Japan international will go down in history as a Foxes legend, having played his part in the stunning 2016 Premier League title triumph.

In last weekend’s 0-0 draw against Chelsea, he said farewell to the King Power Stadium faithful and insisted he leaves the club with many happy memories.

“There are many good memories. I’ll never forget this day and I was happy to play,” he told LCFC TV when reflecting on his final game.

“I’m proud of the fans and my teammates. When I first came, not many Japanese people knew where Leicester was.

“Now, everybody knows Leicester City. We are champions, we won the league and played in the Champions League.

“I had a very exciting four years with the fans and my teammates.”

Okazaki spent a total of four seasons at Leicester, scoring 19 goals in all competitions during that time.
