England head coach Sarina Wiegman has confirmed that forward Ellen White has returned to training with the team following a spell in isolation recovering from COVID-19.

White left camp a week ago after testing positive for the virus. She missed the Lionesses’ 5-1 victory over The Netherlands at Elland Road in Leeds on Friday evening.

England head coach Wiegman has now confirmed that White has returned to the group after overcoming her recent illness.

“She’s good,” Wiegman told Sky Sports in her latest interview. “It took a while but we are happy that she’s back and she’s happy too. She will start on the pitch again today and hopefully, we can build her up getting ready for the EUROs.

“One or two days she took it easy (at home) and then she could train by herself, she’s got a programme so she’s in shape.”

England face Switzerland in Zürich in their next match tomorrow evening. White will be with the group, although the player may not be ready to play a part.

“Let’s see how she is on the training pitch,” Wiegman added. “She hasn’t been in football training for a week now so we don’t take any risks.”

England’s international friendly against Switzerland kicks-off at 5pm tomorrow evening.
