The defender has been training with Darren Moore’s side ahead of the potential move, with the player currently a free agent.

Hector departed Fulham last summer at the end of the previous campaign and has yet to find a new club.

The centre back spent a year on loan with Wednesday in 2018-19, where he featured 37 times in the league to help the team to a 12th place finish in the Championship.

Moore’s side have found themselves looking light defensively with recent injuries to Ben Heneghan and Michael Ihiekwe.

Mark McGuinness’ recall from loan by Cardiff City has only compounded the situation.

Hector spent three years with Fulham before his contract expired in 2022.

Darren Moore is the current manager?

True False

The 30-year-old spent four years with Chelsea but failed to make an appearance for the Blues, being shipped out on loan each season he spent at Stamford Bridge.

He will be hoping his arrival at Wednesday can boost their promotion chances, with Moore’s side currently 2nd in the League One table.

The Verdict

Hector performed well for Wednesday during his first stint there so will be welcome back by the Hillsborough faithful if this gets over the line.

The defensive issues have warranted the addition of another player to Moore’s squad.

Hector has been without a club since the summer so this is an ideal move for both parties.

This signing will boost the team’s promotion chances, with competition fierce between the teams at the top of the third division table.
