Ormonde-Ottewill currently playing in Hungary

Initially, Ormonde-Ottewill came through the youth ranks at Arsenal, although he never made a senior appearance for the Gunners.

After leaving the Premier League giants in the summer of 2017, the left-back then joined Swindon Town, where he would spend the next two seasons.

Ormonde-Ottewill then left the County Ground in 2019, after which he spent several years playing in the Dutch second-tier with Helmond Sport, Dordrecht and Excelsior.

However, his time there came to an end in September 2022, when he moved to Hungary to join Puskas Academica.

The left-back has since gone on to make 42 appearances in all competitions for the club, who currently sit fourth in the Hungarian top-flight.

Now however, it seems as though Ormonde-Ottewill could be set to get the chance to return to England, for the first time since the start of his senior career.

Sheffield Wednesday make move for Ormonde-Ottewill

According to this latest update from Football Insider, Sheffield Wednesday have enquired about the possibility of signing Ormonde-Ottewill in the January transfer window.

It is thought that the Owls are considering bringing the 28-year-old to Hillsborough, as they look to strengthen the squad available to manager Danny Rohl.

However, Wednesday are not alone with their interest in the left-back, with it also claimed that clubs in the MLS are keen to bring the player to America.

As things stand, there are just six months remaining on Ormonde-Ottewill's contract with his current club.

That of course, means the January transfer window could be Puskas Academica's last chance to cash in on the former Arsenal youngster.

Owls still in a Championship relegation battle

Although they have improved since the appointment of Rohl as manager back in October, Sheffield Wednesday are still in a battle to avoid relegation.

The Owls currently sit 22nd in the Championship table, four points from safety, with 19 games of the regular season remaining, meaning they may need reinforcements this month to help them get out of trouble.

Rohl's side are next in action on Saturday afternoon, when they host Coventry City at Hillsborough.

Ormonde-Ottewill links are interesting for Sheffield Wednesday

You get the feeling that these links with Ormonde-Ottewill may raise a few eyebrows among those of a Sheffield Wednesday persuasion.

that another Championship side, Ipswich Town, have made moves to sign Marvin Johnson from Sheffield Wednesday this month.

As a result, the fact they are being linked with another left-sided player who can play a variety of roles on that side of the pitch in the form of Ormonde-Ottewill, could suggest they are bracing themselves for a departure in that position.

Given his career path so far though, you do wonder if the 28-year-old will be ready for the demands of the Championship, particularly with the pressure of a relegation battle on top of that, meaning this is a situation that seemingly gives Sheffield Wednesday plenty to think about.
