Bailey Cadamarteri's switch to Sincil Bank looks to be a great move for all involved

Bailey Cadamarteri has moved to Lincoln City on a season-long loan from Sheffield Wednesday, with the striker dropping into League One to get more game time in the season to come.

The frontman rose to prominence in the previous campaign, with four goals in 23 appearances in his first season in professional football, as he quickly became a fan favourite at Hillsborough, following in the footsteps of dad Danny.

Danny Röhl has since added extra firepower to his Wednesday squad for the season ahead, with Jamal Lowe leading the line for the Owls, while Ike Ugbo has returned on a permanent deal after a promising loan spell from Troyes last season.

With that in mind, the move to Sincil Bank will work out best for all involved in the season to come, with the player and both clubs likely to benefit from the deal.

Lincoln City, Bailey Cadamarteri match can be mutually beneficial

Cadamarteri has already shown that he is capable of producing moments of magic in the final third, with his breakthrough campaign seeing him hold his own at Championship level as a teenager.

With a run of three goals in four games in the run up to Christmas last year, the striker showed he has the physicality to compete in the men’s game, and an eye for goal that will likely see him plunder a hatful in the third tier.

Sincil Bank has proven to be a fruitful spell for strikers borrowed from top clubs of late, with Imps boss Michael Skubala getting the best out of Luton Town forward Joe Taylor in the previous campaign.

The frontman netted 10 times in 19 appearances during the second-half of the previous campaign to lift City to within reach of the League One playoff spots, and a repeat with Cadamarteri isn’t to be ruled out.

Having worked with youth teams in the past, Skubala has the perfect pedigree to get the most out of a young talent that has the world at his feet, and the City boss is eager to get to work with his latest recruit.

He said: “Bailey adds a set of qualities that we’ve been looking for this summer to add to our forward options with top end pace, power and a threat in behind.

"We need a strong department at the top end of the pitch for all types of opponent across three competitions with so many games.

“We feel that Bailey can make a real impact in League One. He has joined us for all the right reasons and we are really looking forward to working with him.”

At his age, Cadamarteri will be hungry to prove himself, and the drop down in level is the perfect opportunity to do just that, with a prolific season in League One the perfect way to remind Röhl just what he can do when given the chance.

Sheffield Wednesday will have long-term benefits from Bailey Cadamarteri loan

While Wednesday seem well-stocked in the forward department as it stands, the development of Cadamarteri away from the club can only stand them in good stead for the future.

With a full season of EFL football under his belt, the young striker will likely return to Hillsborough next summer ready for the challenge of making the step up to Championship level, if that is indeed where the Owls remain.

While Röhl is unable to commit to testing his youth product on the biggest stage this season, there is no point in the teenager sitting on the bench week in, week out, as Lowe and Ugbo will likely be the sole starters for the majority of the campaign.

Therefore, a move to Lincoln is a wonderful piece of business for Wednesday, who will reap the rewards in 12 months time, if the young attacker proves he had the credentials to test himself at a higher level.

There will be a keen eye on Sincil Bank for the remainder of the season from the blue half of the Steel City, in the hope that one of their own flourishes with the opportunity given to him.
