The German coach earned a lot of plaudits for his work with the Owls since taking the reins of the first team squad in October.

The Yorkshire outfit were bottom of the Championship table, and many had considered them clear favourites for the relegation zone.

However, the 35-year-old oversaw an impressive run of form that saw them ultimately secure their safety in the Championship for another year.

A 2-0 final day win over Sunderland earned them a 20th place finish in the table, ending up three points clear of Birmingham City in 22nd.

Rohl has since signed a new long-term deal to commit his future to Sheffield Wednesday.

Here we look at the latest news surrounding the club as we look ahead to a busy summer of transfer activity…

It has been reported that Sheffield Wednesday have set their sights on signing Yan Valery from French side Angers.

According to Nizaar Kinsella, the Owls are keen to reunite the 25-year-old with Rohl, with the pair having previously worked together.

It is understood that personal terms have been agreed on a move, but a fee has yet to be negotiated with the newly-promoted Ligue 1 team.

Sheffield Wednesday also face competition from the likes of Cardiff City and Huddersfield Town in the race to sign the ex-Southampton player.

The Championship side will be keen to win the race to his signature following their agreement on personal terms, with the club looking to back Rohl in the transfer market this summer.

Carlton Palmer tips Sheffield Wednesday for Rotherham move

Rotherham United’s relegation to League One could see the departure of defender Cameron Humphreys this summer.

The centre-back performed well in the Championship, but was unable to help the Millers from finishing bottom of the second division table, leading to their return to the third tier for next season.

Carlton Palmer has tipped Sheffield Wednesday to make a move for the 25-year-old, amid a report from Football Insider suggesting they are interested in a move.

"Which would be the best fit for the player? Well, Sheffield Wednesday is just down the road,” Palmer told Football League World.

“QPR, Millwall and Swansea are all teams you're going to have to travel to.

"Danny Rohl had done a fantastic job, so did Cifuentes at QPR.

“Millwall and Swansea have still got some work to do next season, but Sheffield Wednesday and QPR will be looking to push into the top half of the table.

"I would say Sheffield Wednesday would be a good bet for him, and Sheffield Wednesday need a really good centre-back who can play week in and week out.

"As I said, it's a short move down the road, and it would be great business for Sheffield Wednesday if they can get him in at the right money."

Brighton set James Beadle stance

James Beadle spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan with Wednesday, where he helped Rohl’s side survive relegation to League One.

According to The Sun, the Championship side are set to win the race to Beadle’s signature for next season as well.

It is understood that Brighton are set to send the 19-year-old back out on loan for another year.

Beadle impressed during his time on loan at Hillsborough, and is likely to be the first-choice shot-stopper in the team next term if this move comes to fruition.
