Indeed, after impressing in the Northern Premier League Division One East with his club Brighouse Town, their report states that the 21-year-old has been given the chance to demonstrate his ability to the club.

Interestingly, the report also claims that the young Owls trialist has caught the eye of other clubs both in the Championship and League One.

The duration of Reed’s trial is unknown, although he is continuing to play for his non-league side simultaneously.

This update comes as the Sheffield Wednesday senior side prepare to face Fleetwood Town in FA Cup fourth round action tomorrow afternoon.

The Owls knocked out Premier League Newcastle in the third round and will fancy their chances of reaching the 5th up against a fellow League One side.

The Verdict

Sheffield Wednesday’s strategy in regards to taking loanees on this season has been intriguing.

It’s not the first time we have seen them take young players in on trial this season, in fact it has been quite a common occurrence.

I suppose that is one way to fill the youth sides and give the academy team options, with a potential eye on who could get to the first team in the future, too.

With other clubs also said to be looking at Reed, it will certainly be interesting to see if he ends up signing on the dotted line with the club.
