Sheffield Wednesday academy graduate Cailey Cadamarteri is said to be of interest to three Premier League sides, according to reports from the Sheffield Star.

The 18-year-old rose to prominence for the Owls in the previous campaign, where he netted four times in 23 league appearances for the Yorkshire side as they successfully fought off Championship relegation.

Having only made his league debut for Wednesday last November, the striker went on to score three times in his first seven outings in a blue and white shirt, with his performances convincing the club to offer him a new long-term deal.

But despite pledging his future to the club, The Star believes that a trio of top flight clubs are showing interest in the budding prospect, as well as fellow second tier sides.

Cadamarteri is a player that had attracted interest before he had even kicked a ball in anger for the Owls, with Brentford and West Ham United both said to have been keen on landing the teenager before he had even signed a professional deal with his boyhood club.

The soon-to-be star did pen a deal with the club in 2022 though, before going on to make his debut in the EFL Trophy months later, as he came on as a late substitute in a 2-0 victory over Leicester City.

The forward had to bide his time for another chance in the first-team, with a year passing by before he was thrown in to the Wednesday squad for the visit of Millwall last November; appearing as a half-time substitute at Hillsborough on that occasion.

The son of former Premier League ace Danny wasted no time in establishing himself as hot property in the Steel City, with his first goal coming on his second start for the club, as he netted the opener just five minutes into the clash with Blackburn Rovers in December.

Further strikes against Norwich City and Queens Park Rangers would follow before Christmas, as the teenager began to show the watching world what a bright future he has in his hands.

The frontman has also gained international recognition in recent times, having played in both matches for England’s Elite Squad (formerly under-20s) in their recent fixtures with Sweden and Republic of Ireland.

It is no surprise that Premier League clubs are keen on the youngster given his recent performances, although The Star was unable to name which top flight clubs are said to be interested in a move for the young marksman.

Danny Röhl influence could help to keep Bailey Cadamarteri at Sheffield Wednesday this summer

Wednesday boss Danny Röhl has made it no secret how highly he considers Cadamarteri’s talents to be, after putting his faith in the young striker right from the off during his time at Hillsborough.

The German [pictured] had only been in the job a matter of weeks when he threw the striker on against Millwall, and has continued to put his faith in the teenager ever since.

With the former Southampton man having committed his own future to the club in recent weeks, Cadamarteri will know that he has every chance of becoming a regular with the Owls in the following campaign under his current boss, which would be ideal for his development at this stage in his career.

Röhl said of the frontman during last season: “For me, it's always the outcome from the last weeks. If you train hard and if you work very professionally, you are able to do this.

“I’m convinced about him. It was the reason why I took him immediately when I saw him. I see special things from him.

“I think it's also the way for Wednesday for the future. I think this is for me a big key point, to have a young group, to have young players here, to improve these players and our club with the academy together, and then we can create good players for our team. This is also, for me, a big goal for the future.”
