No player has scored more goals in England’s top four leagues in the 21st century than Billy Sharp.
Sharp’s goal to make it 3-0 to Sheffield United at the DW Stadium took his tally to 220 since the turn of the millennium.
The 32-year-old has represented eight different clubs during his career, and is currently enjoying his third spell with the Blades.
Remarkably, he has only managed more than 20 goals in a single season four times in his career. He is currently on 15 for the current campaign, however.
In 2011, Sharp’s son Luey Jacob, died from gastroschisis when he was just two days old. The striker was playing for Doncaster Rovers at the time and just two days after the tragic death, he scored against Middlesbrough and then scored again away at Ipswich five days later.
What an incredible achievement.
