Sheffield United’s Barclays Women’s Championship fixture at Crystal Palace postponed | OneFootball

This weekend’s Barclays Women’s Championship fixture between Crystal Palace and Sheffield United has been postponed upon the request of the visiting club.

The two sides were set to meet at the VBS Community Stadium in Sutton on Saturday afternoon but the game is not going ahead and will be rescheduled for later in the season.

A decision has been made to postpone the game following the tragic passing of Sheffield United midfielder Maddy Cusack last week.

Sheffield United made an official announcement on the Crystal Palace fixture this afternoon which read:-

‘Our Barclays Women’s Championship fixture at Crystal Palace, scheduled for Saturday 30th September, has been postponed.

‘The Blades asked for the game to be postponed following the recent devastating news of the passing of Maddy Cusack.

‘A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course.’

The two clubs are next scheduled to be in Barclays Women’s Championship action on Sunday 8 October 2023. Crystal Palace will travel to Ewood Park to take on Blackburn Rovers while Sheffield United are currently listed to host London City Lionesses at Bramall Lane. A further update on The Blades’ next league fixture is likely to be provided by the club in due course.
