Sheffield United transfer latest and takeover update ahead of first home game of the season | OneFootball

Sheffield United have had to wait patiently over the summer for an update about the proposed takeover, and reports from The Star are now saying the deal is now progressing very nicely indeed.

According to BBC Radio Sheffield’s Andy Giddings, a total agreement was reached two weeks ago and now both parties are waiting on the EFL’s verdict. If the EFL ratifies the deal then there are some minor protocols to go through before the takeover can become official.

At one stage some supporters feared that this prolonged takeover would hinder their summer transfer business but that has far from been the case. Despite a takeover on the horizon, the Blades have managed to make some fabulous signings such as Callum O’Hare, Kieffer Moore and Harrison Burrows, with Michael Cooper and the loan acquisition of Jesurun Rak-Sakyi soon to be official.

Speaking after Tuesday night’s win against Wrexham, Chris Wilder jokingly responded to Cooper and Rak-Sakyi being shown on the Sky Sports broadcast watching the game, “I don’t know what’s going on there. I think they just fancied watching the game in Sheffield”. Wilder then followed up with, “They’re advanced. More than advanced. Advanced to the point where I’m sure they’ll be involved at the weekend [against Queens Park Rangers].”

Sheffield United soon to confirm double signing before QPR game

Football Insider have stated that the Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper is set to sign a four-year deal with the Blades. And he could be making his debut against QPR at the weekend, as could Rak-Sakyi.

Per the report from The Star, members from the US-based consortium were in attendance for the opening night victory over Preston North End and they’ve also been to a few of the pre-season friendlies. Perhaps they will be at Bramall Lane on Saturday afternoon for United’s first home game of the Championship campaign as well.

The Blades are gathering momentum

There is a real positive feeling around Sheffield United right now and that will only grow if they make it three wins in three competitive matches. There’s still a few more weeks left of the summer transfer window too so they could add a few more faces to the squad.

By my calculations, United have 23 players listed on their first team on the club’s website (out of a possible 25), though they do not need to submit players that are eligible for U21’s football. That means: Louie Marsh, Andre Brooks, Sydie Peck, Oli Arblaster and Femi Seriki do not legally have to be submitted to the EFL’s squad registration, thus meaning the Blades have another five first team squad slots left to use, and two more loans.
