Sheffield United survive fright at Rugby Borough in Adobe Women’s FA Cup | OneFootball

Sheffield United had to twice come from behind at Rugby Borough before progressing after extra-time in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup 3rd Round.

Portsmouth pushed Southampton FC all the way before bowing out 2-1 to their south coast rivals. Saints led from a Jazmin Younger own-goal and although Emma Jones equalised, Jemma Purfield scored a 74th-minute winner.

Rugby Borough twice threatened an upset against Sheffield United, Angelina Nixon and Lily Greenslade seeing their goals cancelled out as Izzy Goodwin went on to complete her hat-trick with an extra-time spot-kick.

Plymouth Argyle twice levelled against Oxford United through Fern Orchard and Imy Crawford, Charlotte Whitmore eventually sending the Pilgrims through with the decider in the shoot-out.

MK Dons kept Birmingham City at bay until added time, when Choe Yu-ri made the breakthrough and Ivana Fuso added the second.

North West League Darwen had a crowd of well over 1,000 for the local clash with Championship side Blackburn, but Rovers won through 4-0 Meg Hornby, Lucy Shepherd, Tyler Toland and Chloe Williams their scorers.

Watford have to come from behind to eliminate FAWNL team Southampton Women’s, Britt Jeal threatened a cup shock but the Hornets levelled by half-time and Laila Harbert grabbed a second-half hat-trick in a 6-1 result.

Nottingham Forest saw off Boldmere St Michaels 3-1, after their early opener was cancelled out by the away team, the scoring was completed by half time.

Portsmouth-based Moneyfields accounted for  Millwall Lionesses with a first half goal from Kau’inohea Taylor.

Reading came through with four unanswered goals at Cheltenham Town, Deanna Cooper and Lauren Wade finding the net in the first dozen minutes, Charlie Wellings bagging a swift brace straight after half time.

Durham Women were 5-0 winners at West Brom, Sarah Wilson’s first-half header added to by Eleanor Ryan-Doyle, Lily Crosthwaite, Saoirse Noonan and Becky Salicki after the interval.

Newcastle United knocked out Stoke City with four second-half goals in a 5-0 result, Bridget Galloway’s brace added to by Katie Barker and a late Anna Soulsby double.

Charlton Athletic were held by fourth-tier hosts AFC Bournemouth for 55 minutes, before bowing out 6-0. Karin Muya scored a couple and forced an own-goal with a cross, Angela Addison, Melissa Johnson and Carla Humphrey adding one goal apiece.

Crystal Palace also hit Chatham Town for six, Molly-Mae Sharpe and Elise Hughes gave them a 2-0 interval lead, Hughes went on to complete a hat-trick, with Keira Barry and Annabel Blanchard the other scorers.

Yet another half-a-dozen goals came for a side from south of the Thames as London City Lionesses overcame Billericay Town. Danielle Carter and Niamh Farrelly scored before the break, Carter, Lucy Fitzgerald, Tinaya Alexander and Georgia Brougham after the interval.

Sunderland sank Durham Cestria 7-0, Liz Ejupi, Brianna Westrup, Katie Kitching and Mary McAteer with first-half efforts, Jenna Dear on target after the break with Kitching and Westrup dounling their tallies.

Derby County secured their progress with five goals by the break at Chester le Street Town, Yas Mosby and Becky May both scored in the first five minutes, Amy Sims then struck twice and Mosby got her second, the hosts later getting a consolation.

Burnley coasted through at West Midlands League side Coundon Court, Aimee Kelly, Brenna McPartlan and Laura Elford each contributing a hat-trick to the 11-0 scoreline.
