WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blades this afternoon.
The 21-year-old joined the Chelsea academy system at the age of 15. Wardlaw made her senior debut for The Blues in a Women’s League Cup group stage match against Tottenham Hotspur in the 2019/2020 season.
With first team minutes having been in short supply for Wardlaw at Chelsea, the youngster has gained experience out on loan in recent seasons. The defender has enjoyed loan spells with Liverpool, Lewes and Glasgow City in the last three years.
Wardlaw was a Barclays Women’s Championship winner with Liverpool in 2021/2022 and she will be hoping to use her experience of the league to her advantage with new club Sheffield United.
After signing for Sheffield United, Wardlaw said “I’m really excited and delighted to be here. I think it’s really good to be back in the Championship and this club will hopefully push and develop me as a player and as a person.”
Wardlaw is Sheffield United’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window. The player could be in-line to make her debut for The Blades when they face Charlton Athletic at Bramall Lane on Saturday evening.
