Gazet van Antwerpen are reporting that Beerschot are in the process of being sold. The side, owned by Sheffield United owner Abdullah bin Musaid Al Saud, are currently second in the Challenger Pro League and chasing a return to the top flight of Belgian football. The owner of the Premier League side owns 75% of the club and has been looking for a new buyer for six months now. Minority shareholders Francis Vrancken and Philippe Verellen are also willing to sell their shares.

Alongside the report from GvA, Voetbalkrant are reporting that there are two interested parties, one being a British based investor and the other American. Ultimately those in charge of the club would like to see a sale finalised before the end of the season, as the club has been losing money over the past three campaigns. In an ideal world, the deal would be made quicker to allow for new signings in the winter transfer window.

Beerschot are currently level on points with first placed Zulte Waregem, but have a game in hand over the league leaders. This would be against SL16, the side bottom of the league. Given their limited resources, the sides success so far this season could be seen as attractive to potential buyers.
