Sheffield United loanee Reda Khadra would be keen on a return to his home nation Germany if a deal between parent club Brighton and Schalke can be negotiated, according to this morning’s Patreon report from Alan Nixon.

The 21-year-old has failed to make a real impact at Bramall Lane, scoring just once in 15 appearances with several of these displays coming from the bench as the Seagulls’ man struggled to adapt to life at Bramall Lane.

Amid this lack of game time, the attacker is keen to leave South Yorkshire and could potentially secure a move elsewhere this month, with United boss Paul Heckingbottom willing to let him go if a replacement is recruited.

Who did Sheffield United sign Tommy Doyle on loan from?

Liverpool Chelsea Manchester United Manchester City

There’s no shortage of interest in his signature at this point following his impressive time at Blackburn Rovers last season, with the Blades’ league rivals Birmingham City and Bristol City both being linked with a potential move for him.

However, they may face intense competition from Schalke for his services, with the Bundesliga outfit able to offer him top-tier football back in his home nation.

And according to this morning’s report from Nixon, he is keen to make a return to Germany if a deal can be negotiated.

The Verdict:

Birmingham and Bristol City would be two good options so Khadra shouldn’t be too disheartened if he doesn’t manage to secure a return to Germany.

You can understand why he would want to do so considering the fact he isn’t one of the first names on the teamsheet at the Amex Stadium with his future on the south coast looking bleak at this point.

A return home may boost his performance levels and allow him to fulfil his potential, something he will be keen to do after performing so well under Tony Mowbray at Blackburn last season.

You have to wonder whether Mowbray’s current side Sunderland would be interested in striking a deal for him following Elliot Embleton’s setback, with the Brighton man also able to play up top if needed.

That could be a decent move for him – and he could play a big part at St Andrew’s and at Ashton Gate too, though he wouldn’t be guaranteed to be in the starting lineup at their team considering some of the options both teams have.
