Leeds United have confirmed the addition of Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United
Former Sheffield United teammates Chris Basham and John Egan have issued messages to Jayden Bogle after his move to Leeds United.
The full-back has joined the Whites ahead of the new Championship campaign, signing a four-year deal as part of the move.
The 23-year-old spent the last four years with the Blades, but has departed Bramall Lane following their relegation from the Premier League.
He featured 88 times in the league for Sheffield United across the last four campaigns, and will now be looking to cement himself as a key figure in Daniel Farke’s side (all stats from Fbref).
Bogle has experience in gaining top flight promotion, helping the Yorkshire outfit come second in the Championship under Paul Heckingbottom in 2023.
Bogle posted a farewell message to Sheffield United supporters on social media following his move to Elland Road.
He showed his gratitude to the staff and the supporters for the backing they showed him during his four years at the club.
“Over the past four years I’ve made some amazing memories on and off the pitch,” wrote Bogle, via Instagram.
“I would like to say thank you to the staff, the fans and also the club for giving me the opportunity to play at Bramall Lane and also my first ever experience in the Premier League.
“To my teammates, we shared some amazing experiences through the good times and the bad.
“I have made friends for life and I’m grateful for the constant love and support.
“I wish the club all the best in the future, Sheffield United.
“Thank you.”
Former teammates Basham and Egan responded to the post, with both players having also departed Bramall Lane this summer.
“Good luck, mate,” replied Basham.
The 35-year-old ended his time at Sheffield United this summer following the end of his contract, having been with the club since 2014.
“What a man,” said Egan, who similarly departed due to the end of his deal.
Bogle will be eyeing a swift return back to the Premier League by helping Leeds gain promotion this season.
Farke guided the team to a third place finish in the table last year, missing out on a place in the top flight with a play-off final defeat to Southampton.
It has been a busy summer already at Elland Road, with Joe Rodon, Alex Cairns and Joe Rothwell also joining the first team squad.
The Whites will be targeting a top two finish, as they seek promotion back to the first division at the second attempt in the upcoming campaign.
Bogle became an influential member of the Sheffield United first team squad over the course of his four years with the club.
His departure will come as a blow to Chris Wilder ahead of the new season, with Bogle having played in 34 of the team’s 38 league games last season.
Leeds needed to strengthen at right-back, so his arrival will be welcomed at Elland Road as a sign of progress in improving the first team squad.
