Sheffield United forward Courtney Sweetman-Kirk has agreed a new contract with the club for next season.

The 31-year-old experienced campaigner led The Blades’ front-line well this season, ending the campaign as the club’s top scorer with 14 goals in all competitions.

The player has now agreed to stay on with Sheffield United for another year with FAWSL Full-Time being informed of the news via an official club press release this afternoon.

After signing on again with The Blades, Sweetman-Kirk said “I’m buzzing to be back. Everyone can see I’ve enjoyed myself this season and as long as I’m scoring goals, I’m happy.

“It was a no-brainer for me when I sat down with Redders, I’ve immensely enjoyed my time here.”

Sweetman-Kirk has enjoyed a successful career to date which has seen her play top flight football for Lincoln Ladies, Notts County, Doncaster Rovers Belles, Everton and Liverpool. The forward joined current club Sheffield United in 2020 and she has scored 16 goals in 39 appearances for The Blades in the FA Women’s Championship.

Neil Redfearn’s side ended the 2021/2022 campaign in seventh place in the FA Women’s Championship table but they showed significant signs of growth in the second half of the season. The Blades have lost just twice in the league in 2022 and they will be keen to kick on next season.
