Sheffield United’s teenage duo Matilda Taylor and Sam Sharrocks are leaving the club this summer according to reports on The Blades’ official website.

The pair have both successfully made the step up into the Sheffield United first team but the next step of their respective careers will be away from South Yorkshire with both Taylor and Sharrocks having accepted scholarships in the United States.

Midfielder Taylor will spend a period at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona, Florida, while defender Sharrocks will represent the Rider University in Lawrence Township, New Jersey.

Taylor was handed a first team shirt by Sheffield United head coach Neil Redfearn last summer after impressing for the club’s development squad. The midfielder was involved in Sheffield United’s matchday squads for 18 of their 22 FA Women’s Championship matches this season, making six appearances from the bench. The youngster was also handed a couple of outings for the club in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.

Sharrocks stepped up into the first team environment during the 2020/2021 season. She had to wait more than 12 months for her senior debut with the player being introduced from the bench as Sheffield United won 4-0 at Watford in the FA Women’s Championship.
