Wrexham's incredible 2022/23 FA Cup journey is finally over.

The team chasing promotion from the National League to League Two had dreams of hosting Tottenham Hotspur in the competition's fifth round.

That looked firmly on the cards when the Red Dragons were 3-2 up against 10-man Sheffield United on home soil.

Sadly, it wasn't to be for Wrexham the Racecourse Ground, John Egan netting a stoppage-time equaliser to silence the home fans.

The Irish defender's goal meant the two teams contested a fourth round replay at Bramall Lane on Tuesday night, a match in which United eventually emerged victorious by a scoreline of 3-1.

Wrexham certainly gave a great account of themselves, though.

The side now famously owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney could have taken a 2-1 lead in the 72nd minute, however, Paul Mullin could not convert from the penalty spot for a second time.

Mullin's miss - or should we say, Adam Davies' save - paved the way for United to produce more stoppage-time drama.

Billy Sharp made it 2-1 in the 94th minute after a defensive mistake by Wrexham, before Sander Berge sealed passage to the fifth round by making it 3-1 in the 96th minute.

It really was a wonderful cup tie, although Sharp certainly wasn't in the mood for niceties following the conclusion of the game.

In his post-match interview with ITV Sport, the United striker well and truly slammed Wrexham, which has resulted in the footage going viral on social media.

Yeah, he didn't hold back at all. Sharp was livid over the fact he believes Wrexham viewed United as a beaten team and were already planning for the match against Spurs.

The veteran striker was also not happy with the refereeing decisions throughout the match.

What did Sharp say in the post-match interview?

"It was a great cup tie over two games, they played excellently," the Sheffield United captain said.

"I think they've been disrespectful before the game, thinking he was already through. They're doing well in their league, we're doing well in ours and I wasn't happy with a few of their players tonight.

"But we've got one over on them, good luck to them with promotion and we've put that one to bed now. A few of their players I wasn't happy with and I got a bit frustrated at the end there.

"I should have put the game to bed but it's one of them, I'm happy we are through to the next round."

When pressed for more clarity on his comments, Sharp added: "I wasn't happy the way they've been as a club. Before the game, eyeing up Spurs when they haven't even beaten us. We're an honest set of lads and we want to go as far as we can in this competition.

"If we get beat in the next round so be it, but we'll give it a real go. I think they thought we were just going to roll over when they got back in it.

"The referee was helping them all night as well, I don't think he gave me one foul all night tonight. But it's one of those things, I probably lost my head a little bit. But I've got a smile on my face now because we're through to the next round and we deserve it."
