After an opening day full of action, day two of the SheBelieves Cup was set to have even more drama with some tournament altering fixtures.
Here is how everything unfolded in Orlando, Florida.
Scorers: Stratigakis 90+2′
After losing their openers, both Argentina and Canada wanted to make a push to move up in the tournament table.
It was a physical match throughout the 90 minutes as both sides went toe-to-toe.
In the first half, Canada’s Jessie Flemming and Argentina’s Soledad Jaimes had the best chances for their respective sides but neither could capitalize.
As the match continued, the Canadians peppered their opponents and had a total of 17 shots compared to Argentina’s seven.
It took right until the end to find a winner as Sarah Stratigakis poked the ball into the net in the 92nd minute for her first national team goal.
With the result, Canada is tied with Brazil on points and Argentina sit at the bottom of the table.
Scorers: Press 11′, Rapinoe 88′
The early match on 21 February saw hosts the United States take on Brazil in a fiery clash for a chance to be outright leaders in the tournament.
Featuring their star-studded starting line ups, both sides had tons of energy in the first half with end-to-end action.
The top-ranked United States side led after just 11 minutes when Christen Press’ perfectly-placed strike opened the scoring.
For eighth-ranked Brazil, Debinha and Ludmila caused problems for the American defence throughout the entire match.
Crystal Dunn’s last-ditch tackle denied Ludmila a chance in the first half and later on in the second, Debinha had an opportunity but her shot went well wide.
In the end, substitute Megan Rapinoe’s well-timed volley secured the win in the 88th minute and the United States now moves to the top of the SheBelieves Cup table.
The final round of SheBelieves Cup action kicks off on 24 February.
Brazil will face Canada and Argentina will face the United States.
