Amad Diallo has taken to Ruben Amorim’s new system like a duck to water.

Funnily enough, it comes as no surprise to the Manchester United faithful, as most were advocating for the 22-year-old livewire to start matches weekly under Erik ten Hag. His choice to overlook one of the side’s most creative and threatening players – which is only further backed up by his statistics – undoubtedly contributed to the now-sacked manager’s downfall.

Nonetheless, Amorim has granted Amad 210 minutes to showcase his talents in the first three matches of his tenure, including starts in both Premier League matches. The winger has returned three assists in that time.

He ranked above all of his United teammates for most completed take-ons (four), most tackles won (four), and most chances created (three) against Everton yesterday. Such a stellar showing is evidently just business as usual for him, as he also ranked first for attempted take-ons (five), clearances (five), and big chances created (one) in the 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town last Sunday.

Amad is rightfully commended for his five-star display

Even without getting on the scoresheet, Amad deservedly stole all the headlines this morning. He also earned high praise from Alan Shearer in today’s instalment of The Rest Is Football, as he told the panel: “Amad Diallo was absolutely outstanding on the right-hand side.

“He was fantastic, player of the match, a constant threat. His work rate, his attitude, and his understanding of what his manager wants from him in that position are brilliant.

“Everton got in so many good positions in the first 20 minutes, but their final ball wasn’t there. Then once United got the first one, Everton sort of caved in.”

“It was a good performance in the end from Manchester United. Other than the first 20 minutes, they were very good,” he concluded.
