The forward spent seven years with Chelsea before completing a big money move to London rivals Spurs during the current transfer window. The two sides meet for the first time since England’s transfer when they contest an FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup quarter-final at The Breyer Group Stadium on Wednesday evening.
When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Chelsea boss Hayes said that England will want to get on the scoresheet against her former employers.
“I expect the best,” Hayes said when discussing what she is expecting from England. “She will put everything into her performance for her team and I am sure that she will want to score a goal which is what she is always wanting to do. I expect nothing else from her.”
The tie against Spurs provides Chelsea with the opportunity to move to within 90 minutes of another domestic cup final appearance. Hayes isn’t paying too much attention to the scenario, she simply wants to see her side improve on their last performance.
She said “I don’t always differentiate between the competitions, I just take it as a game, For us, our last game, our last performance against Arsenal was one where I felt that we could have done better.
“As far as I’m concerned, tomorrow is a game where I want us to get the performance right to put ourselves in the best possible position to win the game.”
Chelsea’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup quarter-final at Tottenham Hotspur kicks-off at 7.45pm on Wednesday evening.
