Luke Shaw is expected to be fit for Manchester United’s opening fixture of the Premier League season against Leeds.
Shaw sustained cracked ribs during England’s run to the final of Euro 2020 and played through the issue – alongside a wrist problem – for Gareth Southgate’s side this summer.
The 26-year-old is due to return to training with the Red Devils on Monday after returning from a post-European Championship holiday and will be assessed by the club’s medical staff.
The Manchester Evening News are reporting that Shaw is confident he will be fit for United’s opening fixture of the new Premier League season, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side hosting Leeds at Old Trafford on August 14.

Shaw now has two weeks to prepare for the season’s kick-off with the Red Devils facing Everton in their final pre-season fixture on August 7, a fixture which Solskjaer will hope to have a full squad – including summer signings Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane – to choose from.
Shaw made 47 appearances in all competitions for United last season and was named as the club’s Player’s Player of the Season, winning the award for the second time in three seasons.
