Shamrock Rovers recorded another memorable Europa Conference League victory against Norwegian side Molde last night.

Teenager Michael Noonan created history on his debut, becoming the youngest goalscorer in the history of European competition, beating previous record holder Romelu Lukaku.

The result was a noteworthy one for the League of Ireland, which generally struggles for airtime against higher-ranked competitions.

Rovers defy the odds again in Europe

When the Europa League got underway at the start of the season, no one expected Rovers to still be around in the knockout stage.

However, they collected eleven points in six matches to secure a two-legged play-off tie against Norwegian giants Molde.

Perhaps more importantly, their European run has poured millions of Euros into their coffers and raised the profile of Irish football.

The victory sets up what could be a memorable night at Tallaght Stadium next week, with a 10,000-sell-out crowd on the cards.

A place in the last-16 is within their grasp, which would be one of the biggest-ever achievements by an Irish club in Europe.
