Luís Castro may not have succeeded in bringing USL Dunkerque into Ligue 1, however, the Portuguese manager is attracting interest from across Europe.
Castro exceeded all expectations, taking Dunkerque into the promotion play-offs in Ligue 2. His side come unstuck against FC Metz in the dying moments and as a result will compete in the second tier once again next season. However, will that be with or without Castro?
Foot Mercato understands that the Dunkerque manager is the subject of an offer from Shakhtar Donetsk, who are hoping that the Dunkerque manager will succeed Marino Pusic at the Ukrainian side. Whilst Shakhtar are hoping for a quick response, Castro is attracting interest from elsewhere, notably from RC Lens.
Les Sang et Or are in the market for a new manager following the departure of Will Still, who has since taken the vacant role at Southampton. The club’s new sporting director, Jean-Louis Leca, has already held talks with the manager’s agent.
