Routine Serie A target Georgyi Sudakov is ready to transfer to a top-five league after blossoming at Shakhtar Donetsk. He had the chance to do so in the past, but his team nixed the offers, as he revealed to Corriere dello Sport.

“I’d like to play in Italy. It’s a country with a great history, with a tactical football and passionate fans. It’d be the perfect league to grow for a midfielder with my characteristics. There are several high-level contributors in my role, the coaches are very knowledgeable, and the play is very intense. Moreover, many of my compatriots have left their marks. I have a good relationship with Andriy Shevchenko and Artem Dovbyk. I follow him and I’m happy he’s doing well with Roma.”

Sudakov explained what occurred in previous windows.

“Juventus and Napoli tabled their bids for me. I’ve never said no. I’d like to try to measure up with Serie A, especially in teams filled with stars. However, the final decision is up to the president and the executives of my club. The Partenopei tried, but Shakhtar Donetsk decided I should stay with them. We’ll see in the summer.”

Sudakov described what it’s like to live in Ukraine.

“The air-raid sirens go off almost every day, and people have to rush to the bunkers. The world is underestimating this war. It has lasted for three years. We had a lot of support at the beginning, but then many countries have lost focus, they are getting used to the news and moved on to their internal problems. We are containing an aggressor who is a menace for everybody.”
