Manchester United target Georgiy Sudakov will leave Shakhtar Donetsk this summer, according to the club’s Chief Executive.

United midfield’s has been a place of despair this season as Erik ten Hag’s side have desperately struggled to control games.

This issue has been evident since the opening day fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers and, if anything has just got worse, with teams continuing to waltz through the centre of the park with ease, creating an avalanche of chances in the process.

It has been reported, therefore, that there will be something of an overhaul in midfield this summer with Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Sofyan Amrabat all slated to leave.

One name that has been mentioned to bolster the beleaguered midfield is that of Shakhtar’s Sudakov, who has been linked to a host of Premier League clubs.

It was reported back in November that United were keeping a keen eye on the player. Last month Old Trafford officials were reported to have requested information on the player’s availability this summer.

In further good news for fans of the club hoping to sign the talented attacking midfielder, the Ukrainian’s agents were said to prefer to move the player to the Premier League, due to the riches on offer for them and their client.

The Standard have advanced the story by claiming that Shakhtar believe the £60million-rated Sudakov will definitely follow Mykhailo Mudryk in leaving Ukraine for a top Premier League club this summer.

They quote the club’s CEO Sergei Palkin, who stated, “this summer window, he has a big chance to move to some big clubs”.

“We have had some contacts with big clubs and some are not negotiating with us directly but are getting a feel for the summer environment. He will definitely move to a top European club this summer. When I was at Chelsea versus Everton on Monday, many people asked me about Sudakov”.

This will be welcome news for fans of United as the 21 year old is highly rated and has even been compared to Kevin De Bruyne in playing style.

Moreover, a transfer is always smoother when both the player and club want a deal to happen and this seems evident in this case.

The biggest hurdle that the Red Devils will have to overcome, if they are to firm up their interest, is the advances of rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.
