SFA slaughter Rangers and refuse apology amid threats claim | OneFootball

In no way do we ever condone death threats, they’re unacceptable and must be silenced at source. Anyone committing one should face severe punishment and consequences.

However, the fact the SFA chose to lead with ‘supposed’ death threats rather than an apology to Rangers for what their officials did shows the difference between Scotland and England in a nutshell.

In England, Brighton had their apology from the referees’ association before the day was out, in Scotland the governing body was condemning supposed death threats two days later after silence and further doubling down on recriminations towards Rangers than offering the apology they should have.

We 100% knew no apology would be forthcoming, and that a story to the very contrary would instead be the SFA’s focus. And they found one.

This is not to say Clancy didn’t receive them, he may well have. But that said threats did not make their way into the police’s hands suggests either that there either may not have been any, or they were stupid little antsy nonsense from Wee Rabbie McGlinchie incensed at the Parkhead result that he said something dimwitted to Clancy.

And that isn’t worth bringing in the police when a wee ned acts like one.

But that the rank injustice against Rangers was pretty much ignored by the governing body is a bigger problem – that they found a way to not only ignore the injustice against Rangers, but a way to actually defend the officials who made that injustice, turning them into victims, is either genius propaganda or remarkable timing.

We’ll be clear – if any Rangers ‘fan’ did do this, and did send a genuine threat to Clancy, they must be named and shamed or jailed, whichever is deemed appropriate.

But this story hasn’t half helped find a way for the SFA NOT to issue Rangers with a legitimate apology and has found them a way to further defend their men and make our club out to be the bad guy.

Smart, really, and very much well above the SFA’s usual level of expertise when it comes to running our game.
