Sevilla have shown interest in Lazio’s Luis Alberto this summer. But Claudio Lotito’s asking price of €25 million for the Spaniard has spurred complexity in the deal.

According to journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Sevilla have now agreed to improve their offer for Luis Alberto but are reluctant to match the demand of the Italian club chief.

The report claims that Lotito needs to decrease the extent of his demands a bit in order to facilitate a move for the wantaway star this summer.

Sevilla have thus far offered a fixed amount of €16 million plus various add-ons to the Italian club for the midfielder. But the latest developments regarding the story have hinted at the Spanish club’s will to extend the figure.

However, it will not reportedly please Lotito, who owes Liverpool 30 per cent of the potential transfer fee in Alberto’s case, thanks to a sell-on clause included by the Reds while offloading the midfield in the summer of 2016.

The 29-year-old had a topsy-turvy season in Serie A last term, with the midfield maestro amassing five goals and 11 assists from 34 league appearances.

Alberto’s sale would allow Lazio to focus on the signing of Ivan Ilić. Maurizio Sarri has recommended the name of the Verona player to the management and will be eager to get him on board as a replacement for the departing Spaniard.
