This time a year ago, Chelsea were bidding for Jules Kounde, and Sevilla were holding out for more money.

Eventually Chelsea decided to pay what the Spanish club were asking – but they then jacked up their price once again. Chelsea had had enough at that point, and decided to leave the transfer for a year.

Sevilla’s actions will have annoyed Chelsea as well as Kounde, and after being forced to stay put for an extra year, the defender is more keen than ever to leave.

But now Chelsea are looking at other defenders, and their long awaited bid to seal the deal second time around still hasn’t come.

According to Marca, Sevilla are now panicking, realising that they risk having an unhappy player on their books for a second year running if they don’t manage to shift him.

Perhaps they should have taken that final offer last summer? This deal is now walking Chelsea’s way.
