Following the arrival of Anthony Martial in Sevilla today, and the signing of Mexican player Tecatito Corona, Sevilla sporting director Monchi wants to keep hold of defender Diego Carlos.

The offers that have so far arrived from Newcastle are far from what Sevilla have been asking for from the outset, according to Sevilla outlet Estadio Deportivo. With five days to go until the January transfer window closes, Sevilla have maintained their initial position with Newcastle.

Despite reports coming from England suggesting that a final bid for Diego Carlos in the region of €50 million plus add-ons would be made, this has failed to materialise, although the Brazilian’s representatives had arrived in Seville to try to negotiate a move to the Premier League.

Reports in England are now claiming that one of the reasons for Newcastle’s withdrawal is the continuous changes from Sevilla regarding the price of Diego Carlos. The Andalusian outfit are not willing to let the Brazilian leave mid-season especially for the amounts offered by Newcastle.

According to Sky Sports, another Premier League club has also offered to pay €35 million for Diego Carlos but a player swap is believed to have been part of the proposed deal.
