Sevilla are getting stuck into the summer transfer market on the hunt for budget-friendly signings that can help them regain their position in and around the top four of La Liga.

One such potential move has come to the fore on Monday afternoon, as Sevilla look to fill the void left by several high-profile midfield departures.

As per ElDesmarque, Sevilla are currently in negotiations for Atlético Madrid veteran Saúl Ñíguez, who has been told that he needs to search for a new club.

Negotiations are said to be underway and Saúl is reportedly keen on the move, even being open to a reduction in salary in order to make the move happen quickly and get him involved in the club’s pre-season preparations.

The player’s salary presents the biggest hurdle to making a deal happen, as his €15 million per season wage is out of reach for most people.

Having appeared 49 times last season for Los Rojiblancos, the 29-year-old still has plenty to give, but his high wages have likely accelerated his move out the door at the club.

The next couple of days could be crucial in making this deal happen as talks progress between the two clubs.
