Liverpool are set to host two friendlies on the same day at Anfield, a unique pre-season challenge as they prepare for the upcoming season. This doubleheader on Sunday, 11 August, will see Liverpool face Sevilla at 12:30 PM and then Las Palmas at 5:00 PM.
In an unusual scheduling twist, the match against Sevilla will be played in front of supporters, while the game against Las Palmas will be held behind closed doors and broadcast live on LFCTV. This setup appears to be a strategic move to accommodate the staggered return of players to pre-season training, including key figures like Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk, among others.
Several players, including Andy Robertson, Ibrahima Konate and Ryan Gravenberch, have yet to appear under the new management. It is expected that those further along in their preparations will feature against Sevilla, while the behind-closed-doors match will provide an opportunity for others to regain fitness.
This marks the first time Liverpool have scheduled two matches on the same day during pre-season, a challenge even for a club of their stature. Las Palmas, who finished 16th in La Liga last season, will be the third Spanish opponent for Liverpool in this pre-season campaign.
After these fixtures, Liverpool will return to Merseyside following their friendly in South Carolina against Manchester United. The team will then prepare for their first competitive fixture under new management, travelling to Ipswich on 17 August.
