The social media team at Sevilla made use of the opportunity to aim a public dig at La Liga rivals Real Madrid, on Monday night.

This came after the powers that be in Spain’s capital made the call not to attend the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris.

After learning that Vinícius Jr. was set to miss out to Manchester City star Rodri in the running for the prize, Florentino Pérez and co. cancelled the club’s private jet bound for the French capital.

The move did not go down at all well across the world of football, with many having accused Real Madrid of an outright lack of respect.

One club, though, who were keen to put a more lighthearted spin on things late on Monday evening were the aforementioned Sevilla.

In a post across the club’s social media platforms, the Andalusians poked fun at Real Madrid, writing:

‘BREAKING: Admin will NOT travel to Paris as Admin has been told they will NOT win the Ballon d’Or.’
