Sevilla agree terms with sixth manager in two years following Quique Sanchez Flores departure

Last weekend, Sevilla announced that Quique Sanchez Flores would be leaving after Sunday’s match against Barcelona. The 59-year-old’s contract, signed in December following Diego Alonso’s disastrous spell in charge, will not be renewed, and moves have been made quickly to snap up their next manager.

As per a report from El Sevillista, Sevilla have an agreement in principle to hire Las Palmas head coach Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta as their next manager. The former Barca Atletic boss will arrive at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan after the season concludes this weekend, and he is expected to sign a one-year contract (which can be extended by a further 12 months).

Garcia Pimienta informed Las Palmas’ hierarchy on Wednesday that he would be moving on, and he will say his goodbyes to the club’s supporters this weekend during the home fixture against Alaves.

Garcia Pimienta should be a very exciting appointment for Sevilla. Granted, his Las Palmas side have fallen off a cliff form-wise in recent months, but they have still been one of the most impressive teams to watch in La Liga this season. However, the task in Andalusia will be considerably more difficult, and the stakes will be higher.
