Sport Bild reports that SC Paderborn midfielder Santiago Castañeda is attracting interest from the Bundesliga amid his performances for the 2.Bundesliga table toppers.
The American has attracted interest from Borussia Mönchengladbach, Freiburg, Werder Bremen, Heidenheim and Union Berlin after having featured for Paderborn in all 15 of their 2.Bundesliga games this season as they currently sit top of the table.
Castañeda only joined Paderborn in the summer from MSV Duisburg following their relegation from the 3.Liga to the Regionaliga West.
Liga-Zwei.de describes the American as a strong runner and tackler, while German football consultant Adam Khan describes him as a player similar to former Gladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria in play style.
All the Bundesliga sides linked to Castañeda have players in the squad who are ageing or do not fill the role that the 20-year-old can play in. Whether that be Gladbach lack of midfield options in the future besides Rocco Reitz, Nicolas Höfler at Freiburg is nearing the end of his career, while Rani Khedria is still a regular at Union Berlin.
