PSG have confirmed in an official statement that they have granted an extended period of rest to seven of their first team players after they secured their place in the UEFA Champions League final on Wednesday night with their aggregate victory against Arsenal.
Vitinha, Achraf Hakimi, Fabián Ruiz, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Marquinhos, Nuno Mendes and Willian Pacho have all been granted a period of rest. The seven players are expected to report for training with Luis Enrique and the rest of the PSG squad on Wednesday next week. These players will not be involved for Les Parisiens this weekend in Ligue 1 as they prepare to face Montpellier on Saturday night.
With the Ligue 1 title wrapped up, PSG can afford to rest the group of players with two cup finals on the horizon. The absence of these players could create opportunities for players in the Ligue 1 champions’ academy to impress. Loïc Tanzi reports that Wassim Slama (16) and Quentin Ndjantou (17) are set to join first team training from the PSG academy.
