Following their 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Monday night, Barcelona players were given the day off by manager Hansi Flick today.

After all, the Blaugrana are not involved in any midweek fixtures and will only return to action on Saturday night when they take on Las Palmas in La Liga.

However, despite being given the day off to rest, seven Barcelona players showed up voluntarily to train at the Ciutat Esportiva today, reports Jijantes FC.

Indeed, Pedri, Raphinha, Gavi, Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres all came to the club’s training facilities today, along with the injured duo of Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Andreas Christensen, showing full commitment and dedication.

It is not the first time this season that players have worked on their rest day granted by the manager, with a number of stars doing so last week as well when Barça had multiple days off due to no matches being scheduled until this past Monday.

It goes on to show the dedication of the players and their intent to stay at their best level as Barça look to add to their Spanish Super Cup triumph this season.

The participation of Ter Stegen and Christensen, both of whom are currently recovering from their injuries, is also a positive sign for the current La Liga leaders.

Ter Stegen recently began working with the ball and may potentially return before the end of the season.

As for Christensen, the Dane has played just one game and suffered a setback days after returning from his ankle issue. But his comeback is believed to be on the horizon.
